Charles is the loving son to the late William and Mary Wheeler; cherished brother to Carolyn (the late Bill) Cook, the late Hardwick "Doc" (the late Christine) Wheeler, the late Ruth (Tom) Henderson, the late Ida (the late John) Moore, the late Mary Boyster, the late Lucille Helton, the late Melvina (the late Joe) Reynolds, the late Wanda (the late J.W.) Whitaker, the late Everette (the late Alice) Wheeler; uncle, great-uncle, and great-great uncle to many; long-time friend and extended family member to Roger and Jackie Baker.
Charlie honorably served in the United States Air Force. He retired after 30-plus years of service with LTV Steel. Charlie "Choo Choo" was well known in Dyer for his yellow bicycle, and for being a regular at the White Rhino and the Engine Room, especially during football games. He also frequented all the local festivals and usually danced until he dropped. This reminded him of the days he would frequent the Aragon Ballroom and dance until it closed.
Visitation for Charlie will be Friday, December 1, 2023 from 11:30 am until the time of his Funeral at 1:30 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. He will be laid to rest in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
