

David Walter Kubiak age 73, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, May 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by daughter, Jennifer (Louis Gain) Kubiak; son, Michael (Danielle) Kubiak; grandchildren, Madison Kubiak, Kaitlyn Kubiak, Allison Kownacki, John Kownacki, Rylee Kubiak and Michael Gain; canine companion, Lucy and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Anna Marie Kubiak and brother, Thomas Kubiak.
David was born on January 2, 1948 in Chicago, IL to the late Walter Stanley and Ann J. Kubiak and was a graduate of Chicago Vocational High School. He proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. On September 26, 1970, he married the love of his life and together they raised two children. David retired from Amtrak as a locomotive engineer with 34 years of service. He and Anna enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with their grandkids. David was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Rev. Charles W. Niblick officiating. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Crown Point, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Please share condolences and funny memories with the family on our website.
