Obituary of Delores Mae Rose
Delores Mae Rose (nee: Wise), age 89 of Schererville, Indiana passed away peacefully at home with her children at her bedside on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. She was born on June 26, 1928 in Crown Point, Indiana. She was only 13 days shy of her 90th birthday. She grew up in Crown Point and graduated from Crown Point High School in 1946. She was married to Robert L. Rose the same year and they raised their family in Schererville “Lake Hills”. The door was always open to others. They fostered several other children and later welcomed Judy and Amy into our family. She enjoyed yard work, mowing the grass and growing flowers. She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan. She loved to redecorate—if she decided a wall needed to come out, she’d pick up a hammer and knock it down. And look out when she had a paintbrush in her hand as everything constantly needed a fresh coat of paint. She was the original DIY – HGTV guru. But most of all her greatest joy and love was caring for all her children and grandbabies. To the end Grandma’s was the place to be for Friday night pizza, Sunday dinners and any family event. She was always the one anyone could depend on, family or friend that was in need of help or care. Many family events were held at “Aunt Pete’s” as she was known by her niece and nephews. She was always the happiest when family could be together. She touched so many lives and was loved by all who knew her. We were blessed to have her in our lives for so long. She was an angel on earth and is now an angel in heaven and will live in our hearts forever. She is survived by her brother—Roland “Bub” Wise; and her sons—Bob (Barb) Rose; Lee (Deb) Rose and her daughters—Valarie “Susie” (Bernie) Gerlach; Denise Webber; Lori (Kent) Govert; Judy (Bill) Ferguson and Amy Teutemacher. 14 grandchildren: Josh (Sara) Rose, Katie (Rob) Forshier, and Robert “Tigger” Rose; Eric and Ryan Gerlach and Julie (Kenton) Hankins; Lee Jr., Ben and Zach (Ashley) Rose; Brian (Charisse) Webber and Adam Webber; Andy (Kaitlyn) Govert and Shane and Mark Govert. Four great-grandchildren: Kara, Gage, Zoey and Luke. Preceded in death by her parents, Roland “Jim” and Elizabeth (Foreman) Wise; sister—Norma Hill and brother—William “Bill” Wise. Husband, Robert L. Rose; infant daughter, Diana Lee Rose and son-in-law, Rick Webber. Donations may be made in Delores’s memory to Harbor Light Hospice of Crown Point, Indiana. Friends may meet with the family on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, Indiana from 4 pm – 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 19th at 10:00 am at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
