Erland Alfred Widuger

Erland A. Widuger, born July 13, 1942, age 68 passed away February 11, 2011. Erland leaves his loving wife of 41 years Connie (nee:Smith), his cherished daughter Christine and his extended family of friends especially the Estes, Popa, McIntyre, Hoernig, McCabe, Beverly and Kool families and a host of many other friends. Erland is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Agnes Widuger, and cousin, Gordon Johnson. Erland proudly served his country in the US Air Force serving in Germany, Alaska (the Aleutian Islands) and in Vietnam. Erland has worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois in Chicago for over 25 years. He currently worked as a Technical Specialist of Provider Managed Care Technology Group of BCBS. Erland was the Head Elder and member of the Board of Directors and Thrivent Coordinator at Peace Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Griffith Masonic Lodge No. 735, F. & A.M., 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, and Orak Shrine, Michigan City, Indiana. Erland was an avid animal lover especially of his cats and his two new kittens. He loved to take fishing trips and family vacations to Walt Disney World. Erland will truly be missed by all the lives he has touched throughout the years. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Masonic Service at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville. Funeral service will be Thursday 10:30 am at the funeral home , with Pastor Dan Dierks, officiating. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
