Floris H. Marvel (nee Dorton), age 94, of Crown Point, born and raised in Hammond, passed away October 9, 2010. She is survived by her ten children: Carol "Peachie" (Ray) Cataldi, Jackie (late Jerry) Beeson, Janet Whitley, Robert (late Rose) Marvel, Jr., William (Sandy) Marvel, Benny (Martha) Marvel, Marge (Robert) Anderson, Bonnie Stephens, Ruthie (Bruce) Schafer and Mary Anne Tigner; 37 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Benny Dorton; and sister-in-law, Ann Dorton. She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, Indiana, with Michele Tipton, Minister, officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 2:00-8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Floris was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Munster. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed cooking. She was a sports fanatic and loved to play slot machines.
