Gerald Alexander age 77, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Alexander; children, Jerry (fiancé Tina Fleming) Alexander, Edward (late Vanessa) Alexander and Laura Alexander; grandchildren, Tayler 'Dia', Alexis (Eric) Cuneo, Sarah MacDonald and Vanessa (Malcolm) Gaskill; great grandchildren, Conner, Gracie, Alena and Zander; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Preceded in death by brothers, Jerome, George (late Beulah) and Walter 'Fritz' (late Dorothy) Alexander; sisters, Dixie (late Hans) Helton, Shirley (late Ray) McCabe and Mary Alexander.
Gerald was born July 22, 1942 in Hammond, IN to the late Thomas Euell and Eva Marie Alexander. He attended Hammond Tech High School and proudly served our country in the US Army. After retiring from Amoco, he worked for Carroll Chevy and NWI Auto Parts. Gerald was a board member of the American Veterans Motorcycle Riding Association Chapter 14, in which his son Jerry was part founder, joined by his daughter, Laura and wife, Joyce. He was a member of the American Legion Post 485 Schererville and also a 32nd Degree Mason. Gerald enjoyed AVMRA, playing cards, bowling, fishing and breakfast with his best friends at Grand Park Café.
Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be truly missed by all those who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Pastor Corlin Stein officiating.
Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, July 5, 2020 from 2:00-6:00 PM and on Monday morning from 9:30 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
