Obituary of Guadalupe Hernandez
Guadalupe Hernandez "Lu", age 83, resident of Northwest Indiana passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020. Guadalupe was born February 20, 1937 at the Rancho la Noria, Linerez, in the State of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Preceded by her beloved husband, Gaspar Lauro Hernandez, II, his parents, Gaspar Lauro Hernandez, I, and Celia Schultz, her loving parents, Doroteo Espinosa and Ramona Rodriguez, Maria Gonzales, Elena Straub Martín and Manuel Salazar Durón, her beloved son, Caesar Hernandez, her cherished sisters, Araselia "Chela" Livas (Natividad), Elvira E. (Jose Maria Cantu, Josephine "Pepa" E. (Jesus Garcia), Jesus "Chuey" Espinosa (survived by his wife, Carmela Claire). Survived by her adoring children, Gaspar "Gus" Lauro Hernandez, III (Dawn), Marcia Konopasek (Jerald), Victor Armando Hernandez, Caesar Gregory Hernandez, Arthur Mario Hernandez (Meagan), her adorable grandchildren, Nicole Frey (Michael), Danielle Hernandez, Stephen Konopasek (Natalie), Sarah Konopasek, her precious great grandchildren, Evelyn "Evie" Frey, Alexia "Lexi" Carroll, Luke Konopasek, Kirra Balon, and her dearest siblings, Gloria E. Morales (Leonardo), María de Lourdes Elizondo (late Roberto), Leticia Leonor, Víctor Manuel, Sandra Elena, Juan Gerardo, Blanca Esthela, Marta Figueroa (Domingo), Irma Figueroa (Anselmo, Jr.), Oralia Alanís (Armando), Angie Figueroa (Armando), Melda Perez (Ray), Ana Sotelo (Lorenzo), Juanita Arredondo (Ramiro), Susie Maceo (Jorge), Doroteo Espinosa, Jr. (Selia). Lu enjoyed hosting parties and family gatherings. She loved to sing, dance, and participate in social activities. Lu was a conscientious worker. She was employed as the "lunch lady" and the "playground supervisor" at Eldon Ready and St. Mary Schools in Griffith, Indiana. She also worked at Land-O-Frost in Lansing, Illinois. A creative and artistic entrepreneur, Lu sold her artwork, crafts, baked goods, and Mexican food throughout the region. In her later years, she continued to work as a caregiver for Companion Care. A memorial service for Guadalupe will be held Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, Indiana 46307.
