Irene W. Phillips Stockwill

IRENE W. STOCKWILL (NEE PHILLIPS), age 97, of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully December 29, 2014 at Community Hospital with her loving daughters at her side. Irene was born October 11, 1917 in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Charles and Luella (nee Baylor) Phillips. Also preceding her in death are her husband, Ronald W. Stockwill; granddaughter, Susan; and siblings, Jeanne, Charles, and Richard. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters: Luita (Edmund) Risch, Rochelle (Donald) Anderson, Judith (Stephen) Dolak, Sharon (late Richard) Richtemeyer, and Sheila Johnson. Also her grandchildren: Jeffrey (Prudence), Jeanine, Julie Ann, Karyn, Jennifer (Josh), Heidi, Michelle (Ariel), Christopher (Shawn), Dale, David (Susan), Elizabeth (Bobby); 19 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; sisters: Janet Canaday, Charleen Lincoln, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors who adored her, and a special neighbor Joe Govert. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Powers officiating at The First United Methodist Church (at 44th Place and Cline in Griffith), where she had been a faithful member for over 62 years. Visitation will be Thursday, January 1, 2015 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, IN 46375). Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
