John W Buza

John W. Buza Jr., Age 96 of Hammond, Indiana passed on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his residence in Hammond, Indiana.

He was born on April 22, 1923 in East Chicago, IN to his loving parents John W. and Anna (Kallay) Buza. On August 10, 1946 he married Marie Bach who has since passed away in August of 2010. He went to Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, IN and shortly after graduation he served his country honorably from 1943 – 1946 in the United States Army. John also was an active member of American Legion Post 232 in Hammond, IN. He resided in Northwest Indiana for a majority of his life and spent many years on Pine Lake in LaPorte, IN where he loved living on the water enjoying his pontoon boat. He was known as a “Toots” to his extended family and never met a stranger. He played pranks, was exceptionally outspoken, and knew how to make you laugh with all of his stories. His fascination and knowledge with firearms will always remain a memory to those who knew him dearly. To know this veteran was an honor and his family and friends will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his two daughters Sharon Glad, Donna Hipp; four grandchildren, Ron Davis, Lauri Russell, Jennifer Stegenga, and Jessica (Jeremy) Crawford. His legacy will live also through his many living friends and extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marie Buza; as well as his parents John and Anna Buza. His service and celebration will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home located at 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN, 46307 on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 10AM. Deacon Erika D. Brooks will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered after the conclusion of the funeral ceremony at the funeral home.
