

John P. Mudrovich, age 84, of Crown Point, IN passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at St. Anthony Hospital with his loving wife at his side. John was born June 13, 1929 in East Chicago, IN to the late John and Anna (Vargo) Mudrovich. On October 9, 1954 he married Joyce (Atwell) Mudrovich, she survives in Crown Point. Also surviving are his children: Sandra Jennings of Granger, John Mudrovich of Griffith, Rhonda Shaughnessy of Shererville, Glen Mudrovich of Crown Point; grandchildren: Jenni (Shawn) Dennis, William (fiancé Lauren Hertler) Jennings, Grant Shaughnessy, Griffin Shaughnessy; great grandchildren: Ryley Dennis and Colton Dennis. Also, his brother Frank Mudrovich. Mr. Mudrovich selflessly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict after graduating Washington High School in 1948. He then received his degree from Purdue Calumet. He worked as a research tech for Inland Steel for over 43 years. John was a member of St. Michael Church, an avid wood carver, and a wonderful family man. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family especially, around the pool. Due to the inclement weather the visitation and funeral service scheduled for Monday will now be Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Ted Mauch officiating at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 8178 Cline Ave, Schererville, Indiana 46375. A private burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be given towards St. Michael Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
