

Joseph Wieslaw Niewiadomski age 83 of Dyer, IN passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He was born May 7, 1929 in Zelow, Poland to Frank and Mary (nee Perlinska) Niewiadomski. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Sophie (nee Wisniewski- Pietruszka) Niewiadomski; three stepchildren: Christine (Bill) Lieberman, John Pietruszka, and Mary Pietruszka. Also survived by former wife, Lorraine (nee Bezek) mother of his eight children: Joseph Jr. (Autumn), David (Sherrie), Richard (Sharon), Dennis, Maryann Carrillo (Tony), John (Donna), Frank (Katherine), and Adam. Joe was the proud grandfather of three step-grandchildren: Amanda, Timothy, and Jillian; and 21 grandchildren: Richard, Kyle, Alyssa Michael, Joshua, Sarina, Indigo, Francesca, Cassidy, Julia, Lana, Anabella, Ethan, Adrienne, Madelyn, Logan, Caroline, Skyler, Alexander, Benjamin, and Layla. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Helen; nephew, Gene; one niece, Donusza Hardy of Budapest, Hungary; and cousins. His family in Poland preceding him in death were his brothers: John, Matthew, Stanley, and Marion; and one sister Anna. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday April 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM Directly at Salvatorian Fathers Monastery (5755 Pennsylvania), Merrillville, IN. Burial Oakland Memory Lanes. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN. Joe retired from American Can where he was a machinist. He also worked at Simmons Mattress Co., Union Tank Car Co., and Standard Forge. Joe was a member of Polish Veterans Post 90 Chicago, Kazimierz Pulaski Citizen Club, and PNA.
