She was born July 7, 1971, in Hammond, IN, to Roland James and Patricia Lee (Bradley) Pereira.
She graduated from Lake Central High School in 1989, and then from Ball State University in 1994, with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology.
Karen lived life passionately and had an artistic flair, which she shared through her hobbies of knitting and creating original jewelry.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her father, Roland Pereira; two brothers, David Pereira of Avon, IN, and Robert Pereira of Schererville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother.
A brief memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307, followed by interment with her mother at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crown Point Humane Society.
