LaVerne Simmons

LaVerne "Lee" was preceded in death by her loving husband, John, of 14 years; her son, Keith Hanish; daughter, Donna Hanish; grandson, Scott Gamblin; granddaughter, Charlee Raduenz; and sister, Kathryn Patrick.

Lee retired from her work as a Dental Laboratory Technician and lived in Northwest Indiana and Florida during her retirement years. Lee enjoyed crafting of all sorts, especially quilting. She gathered often to quilt with her friends. She was a member of the Red Hatters Club in Haines City, Florida. She loved the Lord Jesus and enjoyed studying the Word of God as evidenced by heavily annotated Bibles. She was baptized in Jesus Name on April 12, 1998 and was filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost as a young girl. She studied the Bible throughout her life and, when in Northwest Indiana, worshipped at The Rock Church of Hobart, formerly Gary, IN.

Lee leaves her loving sons, Ron (Sherri) Hanish, and Brian (Marie) Kheros. Lee is also the proud grandmother of Lauren Nelson, Tiffany Hughes, Matthew Nelson, Kristen Whitaker, Jesse Hanish, Christopher Hanish, Micah Hanish, Samuel Hanish, and 4 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Ina Morrison.

Visitation will be Monday, March 7, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Visitation will resume Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM until the time of her Funeral at 11:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor David Stovall. She will be laid to rest in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
