She was born July 21, 1938, in Lake County, IN, was raised on a working dairy farm and graduated from Crown Point High School in 1957. Shortly after graduation, she married her husband and life partner, Stanley. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage and raised three children.
Lena was a hard-working and loyal friend. She passionately embraced life’s journey and championed the underdog. She was generous with her time and loved hosting summer picnics.
She is survived by her sons, Peter and Robert (Robin) Wielgos; daughter, Leona Livingston; granddaughters, Hannah and Mackenzie Wielgos, and Chasity Wilburn; grandson, Charles Livingston; and step-granddaughters, Amme and Emma Nylander.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Victoria Bernacki and Velva Koslowski; and her favorite brother, John Palmonari.

A visitation to honor Lena will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
