Loretta Patterson

Loretta Patterson, age 83, of Demotte, IN, entered into Heaven's gates on Friday, May 22, 2026. She was born on September 26, 1942, in Hammond, IN, to Herschel and Reba Barnes. She was a graduate of Whiting High School, class of 1960. Later in life, she graduated from Purdue University with a degree in computer sciences.

On June 9, 1962, she married her love, Donald Patterson, who preceded her in death. Together, they raised three daughters and enjoyed twelve grandchildren.

Loretta was a proud homemaker. She was a meticulous seamstress and wonderful baker. Her sewn items and baked goods were absolute perfection. Her family and friends were fortunate recipients of her beautiful labors of love. A true gem was lost with her passing, and she will be forever missed.

Loretta leaves behind her daughters, LaDonna (Jay) Barnes, Elizabeth (late Jerry) Edwards, and Deidra Begley; grandchildren, Jonathon (Allie) Barnes, Cory Barnes, Brian Barnes, Kristin (Michael) Johnson, Kevin (Chelsea) Cook, Ian Edwards, Eli Edwards, Justin (Jessica) Kleine, Faith (Grifin) Schwark, Kylie Begley, Keegan Begley, and Levi Begley; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lynn (Sandy) Barnes and Wayne (Shirley) Barnes; sisters-in-law, Ellie Smith and Jane Barnes; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is joining in heaven her husband, Donald; her parents; brothers, Dallas and David Barnes; and her granddaughter, Abigail Begley.

Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN, 46307, with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
