Marcella M. Dub

Marcella was born December 27, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Peter and Lillian (Reed) Keating. Also preceding her in death are her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph E. Dub; an infant son, John Dub; Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert Dub, Jill (James) Morrison, Richard (Kris) Dub, and Peter (Cynthia) Dub; grandchildren, Sean, Marissa, Chelsea, Joseph, Timothy, Rachel Dub; step-grandchildren, Jamie (Heath) Haley and Betsy (Ron Snider) Heneghan; sisters, LaVerne Clark, Patricia Strom, Carol Sullivan, and Nancy Chinell; many nieces nephews; and special neighbors and caretakers, Roseann Kuglin, Diana Mullins, Jackie Schreiner, and Amy Bailey and all the health care professionals that touched her life. Before becoming a homemaker, Marcella worked as a switchboard operator at Illinois Bell for seventeen years, where she was active in the beginning stages of the operator's union. She liked talking about connecting calls for many dignitaries and celebrities, such as: Franklin D. Roosevelt, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Joe Louis, and many others. She was a volunteer for March of Dimes, East Chicago Chapter and St. John Junior Women's Club. Marcella loved gardening, baking, playing canasta, dancing to big band music, caring for the many generations of her family. Marcella also loved dogs and vanilla ice cream.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 4-8 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46365). Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at Chapel Lawn with a burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
