Kay is survived by her two sons, Robert Louis Fernando, Paul David Fernando; sister, Betty Lou; and sister-in-law, Capt. Sharon Reinke.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert C. Fernando; and siblings Dotty and Jim.
Kay will be remembered for her very warm smile and kind soul. She and her husband spent many years being active in the American Legion as well as in the Harley owners group - hog chapter, taking trips to Rolling Thunder annually. She loved serving the Lord in Children's ministry, Vacation Bible School and everything with the church group. A true talent of Kay was her voice. She sang in the choir at church and with the Northwest Indiana Symphony choir and anytime doing errands around the house. Her passion was really in mentoring young mother's. So much that she worked as a clerk in North West Indiana Woman Infant and Children center. Outside of all this, Kay enjoyed reading, taking care of her family, and planting flowers. A beautiful life of a woman who will be missed dearly.
