Mark J. Whitaker

Mark was born March 2, 1978 in Hammond, Indiana to Kathleen (David) Balog and Marvin Whitaker, both whom survive.

Also left to cherish his memory are his children, Dylan Lewis, Braden Crawford, Ethan Whitaker, and Makayla Whitaker; siblings, David A. Whitaker, Allison (Chris) Atwater, Douglas (Lena) Whitaker, Susan (Scott) Clark, Kim Whitaker-Miller; step-brother, David A. Balog Jr.; special aunt and uncle Linda (Ron) Stoner; many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Mr. Whitaker was a brick layer for Local #4 for over fifteen years. After attending Lake Central High School, and graduating from Andrean High School, he received his Associates of Applied Sciences Degree at Ivy Tech. Mark enjoyed Mexican food, the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. He loved all types of water sports, country music, drawing and spending time with his children and family.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 3-8 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375). Funeral services will be Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with Fr. Steve Kosinski officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
