Mary Ruth Hefner

Mary is the loving wife to the late John Earl Hefner; beloved mother to Teri (Greg) Meyer, Gary (Jody) Hefner, Caroline (Doug) Busch and the late Kenneth Earl Hefner; mother-in-law to Sue Hefner; proud grandmother to John (Tiffany) Hefner, James (May) Hefner, Eric (Jessica) Meyer, Scott (Melody) Meyer, Carrie (Will) McMannis, Cal Hefner, Courtney Hefner, Bryanna (Drew) Goodall, Morgan (Emmett) Keck, and Maggie Busch; great-grandmother to 22; cherished sister to Judy, Janice, Nancy, Virginia and Philip, and was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters; aunt to many.

Mary was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church of Valparaiso, where she liked to volunteer with various groups and participate in events. Mary was very devoted to her husband and participated with his career path. She was a strong advocate for the Valparaiso Community Schools, where her husband was an administrator. Mary and her husband also enjoyed dancing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her large family and her grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 9:00 am until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 Harrison Boulevard, Valparaiso, IN 46385. She will be laid to rest next to John Earl at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given toward VNA Hospice or Valparaiso School Foundation, 3801 Campbell Street, Valparaiso, IN 46385.
