

Mary Ellen Weyhe, 67, of Valparaiso, IN passed away peacefully on September 19, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ellen was born on October 16, 1953 in East Chicago, IN to the late Marian Thomas and Elizabeth (Pettry) Chaffee.
Mary Ellen was a wonderful wife who loved her Lord and her family endlessly. She enjoyed going on vacations and watching sunsets on the beach with her husband. Everyone who knew Mary Ellen was touched by her kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. She always said that there were no “steps in this family” and treated everyone the same. Mary Ellen loved her grandchildren and great-children whole heartedly. She enjoyed going to their birthday parties and being a part of their lives. She was a great conversationalist as well as a fierce prayer warrior.
While Mary Ellen will be dearly missed by all who knew her, she would want everyone to know that she was more than prepared and eager to meet her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by the love of her life Jonathan, and her children, Kristina (Jeff) Keene, Amy (Michael) Bakay, Tom (Holly) James, Jamie (Alex) Fare, Keith (Lisa) Weyhe as well as 11 grandchildren: Tiffany, Michael, Brandon, Hannah, Leah, Elisha, Xander, Gwen, Abbey, Kristen, and Aidan. She is also survived by her mom Elizabeth, her brother Tom, her sister Elaine, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her father Marion, brother Jeff, granddaughter Ashley and Grandma Mary.
Family and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 3PM to 7PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307. An additional visitation will occur Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 11AM to 1PM. A funeral service to celebrate Mary Ellen's Life will begin at 1PM. Pastor Dan Donaldson will be officiating. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
