Michael J. Wagner

Michael J. "Iron Mike" Wagner, age 92, of Monon, IN, formerly of Crown Point, IN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024 with his loving family at his side. Mike was the loving husband for 54 years to the late Pauline Wagner; devoted father to Evelyn (Eugene) Watroba, Michael (the late Donna) Wagner, Geraldine (Anthony) Basso, Patricia (Craig) White and Mark (Tina) Wagner; proud grandfather to 12; great-grandfather to 19; great-great-grandfather to 3; brother to 11 siblings; and uncle to several. Mike faithfully served on the East Chicago Fire Department, retiring after 20 years of service. After his retirement, he worked for the Lake Central School Corporation. After his 2nd retirement, he and his wife moved to their lake house in Monon, IN. They enjoyed life and loved attending all the grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He especially enjoyed his large family gatherings and will be remembered as the first one to show up. He was active at his lake house neighborhood and would often be found in his garage, yard, garden, or at the neighbor's house. Visitation will be Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
