Olga Emily Cunningham

Olga Cunningham, 99 years of age, of Lewisberry, PA, formerly of Merrillville, IN, passed away October 13, 2024 at Ecumenical retirement community. Born March 5, 1925, in Gary, IN, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anastasia (Kozak) Sofiak. She was a loving wife of the late Bill Cunningham, whom she was married to for 62 years.

Olga was an active member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was a homemaker, taking care of the house and her family, and worked at the Indiana unemployment office. She loved gardening, playing Bridge, Bunco, and spending time with family and friends. She and Bill were avid dancers and they participated in many clubs and activities with their children. Olga was a booster club member and supporter of Junedale Little League for many years.

Olga leaves behind her son, Terry (JoAnn) Cunningham; daughter, Janet (Dwight) Ashby; grandchildren, Christine, Suzanne, Ryan, Kyle, Evan and Graham; her great-grandchildren, Brady, Ava, Patrick, Aislinn, and Arthur; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Eckersall; and her brother, Michael Sofiak.

Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2025 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Memorial services will be Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10:30 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Burial to take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
