

Philip L. Kazmer, age 73 passed away November 14, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Phil was born May 16, 1941. Preceded in death by his beloved parents (Mary and Louis Kazmer) and sister, (Loretta Tomjanovich). Phil is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois (nee Josvai); loving sons: Brian (Jennifer) of Mokena, Illinois, and Scott of Griffith, Indiana. He has four beautiful granddaughters: Kayla, Rachael, Amber and Taylor which he loved with all his heart. One sister, Carol Paskiet of Loudon, Tennessee. He was proud to have served his country in the US Navy. After leaving the Navy he joined the Munster Police Department and retired with the rank of Lieutenant, then worked at Community Hospital as a security guard until he retired. He will be most remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first on his list of priorities. He loved competing on the shooting range against his fellow officers. Phil was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, Hammond, Indiana and was a member of the American Legion Post 369 of East Chicago. Phil was heartbroken when he lost his best pal, Dukie of 11 years. Now he will join him in Heaven and have him sit at his side as he did for all those years. Family and friends may call at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Schererville, Indiana on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn with Sky Allen, Minister officiating.
