

RAYMOND D. VALENTE CROWN POINT, IN FORMERLY OF LANSING, IL Raymond D. Valente, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, October 26, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Linda Valente; loving father of: Teri (Steve) DeYoung, Brian (Renee) Price and Michael (Kelly) Price; dear grandfather of: Elizabeth and Matthew DeYoung, Grace, Tanner, David, Ethan, and Asher Price; brother of: Renee Valente and Eleanor (Mario) Broccardo; brother-in-law of Al Manzardo; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Gino and Maria Valente; sister, Enes Manzardo; brother-in-law, Richard Iverson; and great niece, Gabriella Manzardo. Raymond grew up in Chicago's Historic Pullman neighborhood. He served in the U.S. Army and was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 330 in Calumet City, IL. Raymond was retired from the Chicago Tribune. After retirement, he went on to work for Strack and Van Til. Ray was an avid Chicago sports fan. He especially loved his Cubbies. Raymond touched the lives of so many and will be missed dearly by all. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012, 7:30 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN). Friends may visit with the family on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the American Cancer Society .
