Richard Christensen

Richard Christensen age 87, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018. He is survived by his nephew, Frank Rapin Jr.; nieces, Deborah (Dave) Straka, and Denise (Terry) Murphy; great niece and nephews, Gabrielle (Kurtis) Bruhn, Frank Rapin III, David Straka Jr., Daniel Straka, Jimmy Murphy, Jeremy Murphy and Everett Bruhn. Preceded in death by his wife , Genevieve of 51 years. Dick was born August 30, 1931 in Oelwein, IA to the late Oluf and Hope Christensen. He proudly served our country in the US Army as Sergeant First Class during the Korean Conflict; member of American Legion Post 180. He received his BA in Economics from the University of Chicago and retired from Inland Steel. Dick was a member of Calumet Bike Club and Calumet Astronomical Society. His passions were family, music, politics and his cats. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 11:00 AM until time of service.
