ROBERT E. "BOB" HOWELL CHESTERTON, IN , age 77, of Chesterton, passed away peacefully at Woodland Manor of Elkhart on January 16, 2015, with his loving family at his side. Bob was born December 13, 1937, in Grant County, Indiana, to the late Howard and Imo Howell. Also preceding him in death are his children Todd and Tim Howell, and Shelly Jackson. On March 20, 1981, he married his wife, Kae (Crowel) Howell, who survives. Also surviving are his children: Jackie (Ed) Mateyka, Mary Kae (Rick) Ringer, Terri (Kenny) Spriggs, Scott (Vicky) Houldieson, and Brad (Michaela) Houldieson; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings: Charles (Mary) Howell, David (Lorraine) Howell and Janet Klefeker, his former spouse Betty Jane Howell, and his loving pet Molly. Mr. Howell was a truck driver and mechanic for Trans United for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover. He enjoyed spending time with his family while camping, fishing and gardening. He was also a talented woodworker. Most of all he loved grandfatherhood, creating memories with them and being a positive part of their lives. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 South Cline Ave. Schererville, Indiana 46375) with Rev. David Kovalow- St.John officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
