Robert (Robbie) Nell White

Robert Nell White went to meet the Lord on Monday, January, 10, 2022. Robbie was born in Huntingdon, TN on March 4, 1927 to the late Willie and Ollie Boyd. On October 20, 1957, she married Weldon F. White in Huntingdon, TN. They moved to Northwest Indiana to work and raise their five children; Stephen White, Amy (Jim) Lee of Shelby, Lori (Jim) Hammonds of Goshen, Mary "Beth" (Rick) Christian of Ravenswood, WV, and Tina (Bob) Mitchell of Demotte. Robbie also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Alan (Kim) Cobb of Clarksburg, TN and Brent (Lisa) Cobb of Huntingdon, TN; along with a host of many who simply knew her as Mammy.

Robbie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Weldon; son, Steve; grandson, Robert “the General” Lee; granddaughter, Heather Grace Christian; and two sisters, Lou Willie Boyd and

Marjorie Cobb of Huntingdon, TN.

Momma was a member of the Prairie Street Church of Christ. She was a beautician until she started raising her family. She was a talented seamstress. She and her life-long friend, Willie Mae Parker, could sew for hours on end and make just about anything anyone wanted.

She made sure her family had what they needed, not always what they wanted. She raised her children and influenced her grandchildren to be hard workers who always worked until the task was complete. A people person, she always welcomed visitors into her home and was a kind and loving soul, with a kind word for everyone she met. She never met a stranger and she made a lot of friends on her many trips around the country with her husband and family.

Her family would like to thank Pat Taylor of Lowell, her roommate, who looked out for her and cared for her like family. They would also like to thank Ray and Barb, who in addition to Pat, saved a spot at the dinner table for their Mammy.

They also thank Cedar Creek Health Campus, Lowell, for their kind and compassionate care bestowed upon Robbie in her last years.

A Visitation for Robbie will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM CST at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A Public Visitation will also occur Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM CST at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM CST. Robbie will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
