

Ronald A. Czapla, age 75, of Gary, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2015 at Community Hospital with his family at his side. Ronald was born March 24, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Anthony and Jeanette (Golan) Czapla. Also preceding him in death is his brother Thomas Czapla.Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of thirty-nine years, Rebecca (Caudill) and their daughter Rhonda (Logan Baldenegro), daughters Mary Beatrice and Barbara Jean, son Christopher, and twelve grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are John, Frances (Donald Laudig), and Mary (Michael Webb).Ronald is a Bishop Noll graduate of 1958. He honorably served in the United States Air Force as a missile specialist in Florida under President Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also served as a past Chaplain and Honor Guardsman in the American Legion Post #66 in Griffith. Ronald retired after twenty years of service with Collins Machine in Gary. Ronald was a great socializer and storyteller, keeping the Czapla family traditions alive. He loved the Bears and attended many games at Notre Dame, where his daughter attended college. His humor and zest for life will be missed by all. Visitation will be Monday, October 19 from 10 am until 1 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave; Schererville, Indiana 46375). Funeral services will be at 1pm immediately following the visitation with Pastor Raymond Tolson officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
