Ruth Louise Edwards

Ruth Louise Edwards, 95, of Munster passed away on April 24, 2018. She was born on June 19, 1922, in Hammond to the late Charles and Ethel Bussell, and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Harry Edwards, granddaughter Meredith Edwards, and sister Mary Ellen Arndt. She is survived by her three sons, Hank (Carolyn) Edwards of Plano, TX, Tom (Regina) Edwards of Dyer, IN, and Doug (Darlene) Edwards of Munster, IN, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. Ruth was a long time Dyer and Munster resident and a true starter. She was the founder of the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary in Dyer, started the Dyer Garden Club and the Dyer Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority. She truly enjoyed all of life's offerings, especially the raising of their three sons and being a wonderful cook and baker. Her recipes are now spread among family and friends for all to enjoy and pass down. Ruth loved to write and volunteer her time to her children's activities. She loved to travel to visit her family around the country and to relax at their favorite vacation spot in Florida. A special thank you to the staff of Hartsfield Village and Harbor Light Hospice for their love and care for Ruth and the entire Edwards family. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Rev. Michelle Knight officiating. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
