Virginia Rose Heffley

Virginia grew up in Gary, Indiana with her 6 siblings: Mariane, Bob, Bill, Helen, Dorothy and John – The Arlet family.

She was married to Howard William Heffley for 48 years. He passed away in 2001. They raised their family, Howard Jr. (Carol) Heffley, Sharon (John) Grunewald, and Jill (Andy) Schirk in Munster, Indiana.

Virginia enjoyed camping, hiking and the beauty of nature. She enjoyed shopping with her daughters and eventually her granddaughters too. She treasured antiquing and most especially loved decorating her home and watching HG TV.

She enjoyed spending time with her 9 grandchildren: Doug, Nikki, Holly (Zack) Jones, Adam (Kendra) Grunewald, Hilary (Jason) Englebrecht, Kurt (Chris) Drury, Bethany (Jose) Zepeda, Jimmy and Christiana. Later it was her 11 great grandchildren who brought a smile to her face. Addison, Olivia, Lucy, Cam, Macie, Maddie, Riley, Ava, Juliana, Lily and Aubrey.

Nothing was more important to her than her family and they were able to be with her at the time of her passing.

She was a woman of great faith. We know she is joyfully with the Lord, her beloved husband Howie and her other precious family members that passed before her. Her love remains with all of us always.

There will be a private service held for her on September 11, 2026 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation in her name, Hospice of the Calumet Area cared for her with great compassion in her last days.
