She is survived by one daughter, Denise (Robert) Frey, and one daughter-in-law, Jackie Holden; six granddaughters, Carla (Jim) Shearer, Bobbi (Brett) Vines, Brenna (Justin) Stanley, Colleen Madafferi, Hailey Holden, and Shelby (fiance Lee Earl); eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Carl Bert, Sr.; her son, Carl Bert, Jr.; her daughter, Lisa Madafferi, and son-in-law, Peter Madafferi; her parents, Herbert and Bertha Salsberry; four brothers, Kenneth, Elvin, Llyod, and Duane; and two sisters, Eleanor and Nila Mae.
Friends may meet with her family Friday, September 11, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, with Pastor Pete Ward officiating. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Vivian was a homemaker and a mom and she took that job very seriously. In her younger years, she was an avid girl scout leader. She loved camping with her family, baking, cake decorating, candy making and embroidery. She was wonderful at whatever she was challenged with.
