William E. Nordbrock of Gary, IN, passed away on July 17, 2026, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard. Bill was born in Oak Park, IL, to Harold and Mona (Allen) Nordbrock, attended Naperville High School (class of 1959) and Wittenberg University in Ohio. He received his PhD in psychology from Loyola University (Chicago) in 1982.
Bill spent much of his career working for the Department of Defense. In 1964, he married Carol Ann Kramer of Aurora, IL. Bill and Carol intrepidly moved overseas with their family for extended employment with the U.S. Navy in Holy Loch, Scotland, and with the U.S. Army in Frankfurt, West Germany, where they made many friends and traveled extensively.
On returning to the states, Bill received advanced subspecialty training in neuropsychology and pursued a private practice career in Illinois and Northwest Indiana, principally at Saint Mary Medical Center. Throughout his career, Dr. Bill helped countless patients and was actively working and learning until his passing. He loved to talk and joke with everyone he met, and his sense of humor, intelligence, and kindness will not be forgotten. In his free time, Bill was an avid chess and racquetball player, a motor-scooterist, and fan of traditional Scottish music. He loved his wife, Care; his kids, Heidi (Rima Krutulis) and Ted Grevstad-Nordbrock (Anne); his grandkids, Fritz and Karin; and his beloved dogs, Charlie and Flora. He will stay near us forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana.
Loved you then,
Love you still,
Always have,
Always will.
