Yolanda Barcenas

Yolanda Barcenas age 82, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gilbert Barcenas; daughters, Norma (Ernie) Nowaczyk and Marcy (Tim) Kapshandy and granddaughters, Kelly and Kate Kapshandy. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda and brothers, Ramon and Sergio Ortiz. Yolanda was born on February 26, 1936 to the late Ramon and Amalia Ortiz. On November 26, 1953, she married the love of her life Gilbert and together they had 3 daughters. She loved her church and her family. Yolanda was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Consolation Church 8303 Taft Street Merrillville, IN with Rev. Peter J. Muha officiating. Entombment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) and again on Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:00 AM at the church .
