Anthony Dwyer Sullivan

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anthony Dwyer Sullivan, a man of boundless strength and intelligence. Tony was born on December 1, 1938, and passed away on July 1, 2026. Throughout his 87 years, he touched many lives with his wisdom, dry sense of humor, and unwavering spirit of perseverance.

Anthony Dwyer Sullivan was born in Mount Vernon, New York, the only child of Anthony and Norma (Hendricks) Sullivan. He grew up playing football and serving as an altar boy, graduating from Archbishop Stepinac High School in 1956. He then went on to study chemistry and served as the ROTC Brigade Commander at Fordham University in the Bronx. Upon graduating in 1960, he accepted a Regular Army commission in the Infantry. Tony served in the Army for 30 years, 10 years on active duty, including a tour in Vietnam, and 20 years as a reservist, retiring in 1991 with the rank of Colonel.

Tony was recruited by H. Ross Perot to join Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1970, which brought the family to Texas. He earned a master's degree from George Washington University in 1970 and a Ph.D. in Management Science from The University of Texas at Dallas in 1981. Tony went on to work for Texas Instruments and IBM and also taught evening computer science classes at UT Dallas.

In 1962, Tony married his fellow Fordham alumnus and chemistry lab partner, Lorraine Schloemer, in Queens, New York City. They shared 64 years of marriage and raised five children together. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine, and their children: Norma, Matthew, Amy (Vince Leon), Kenneth (Amy Flemming), and Terrence (Amy Lane) Sullivan. He was also the proud grandfather of 1LT Anthony Sullivan (Kelty Baynham), Luke and Alexandra Chenette, and Sarah and Sophia Sullivan.

Tony found joy in many pastimes, including spending time with his grandchildren, working with model trains, caring for his dog Guinness, and tackling handyman projects around the house. He had a lifelong passion for soccer and could often be found watching Premier League football. He also coached his children's soccer teams when they were young. These pursuits brought him both relaxation and great happiness.

Funeral services will be held on July 14, 2026, at 10:00am at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Dr, Plano, TX 75075.
