Arlene was born on March 15, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois along with her twin sister Audrey to their parents Elmer and Irene Berquist. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Alvernia High School in 1959. traveled extensively and lived in Puerto Rico and Canada before settling in Dallas, TX in 1979 with her two children Christina and Steven. In 1990, she met Wayne Currens who became her husband of 30 years. She welcomed his seven children lovingly and together they raised 9 children, 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Arlene adored the large family and created a loving home for all - always accepting and seeing the best in people.

Arlene was a visionary and created The Furniture Shop that flourished into a thriving family business. Her flair for design and style was unparalleled and she delighted in decorating the store and her home. Her absolute joy was entertaining and she loved nothing more than to host large family gatherings in her home. She was a trained Ballet and ballroom dancer and she was always dancing. She was a truly unique and special person who could light up any room. She was full of joy and always made everyone feel special and loved no matter what. Arlene was a life-long Catholic and attended St. Matthias Catholic Church in Rockwall.

Everyone who knew Arlene knows that she was always impeccably dressed. Her wardrobe will be donated to Dress for Success, an organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. The family requests that donations be made in her honor in lieu of flowers.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Wayne Currens; daughter, Christina Stone; son, Steven Buchner; step-children, Kyle, Kevin, Steve, Debbie, Carrie and Chris Currens; grand-daughter, Kira Stone; twin sister, Audrey Hill; nieces, Donna Woller and Debby Brown; as well as many loving friends and extended family members.
