He was born to Ruby Mary Stevenson Vardell and Arthur Allen Vardell, graduated from Highland Park ISD and SMU. Steve served in the U.S. Marine Corps at Parris Island in Jackson ville, Florida. He went on to teach English and history, coach multiple sports, work in sales leadership at Southwest Sanitary, and later became a licensed real estate broker. A lifelong member of First United Methodist Churchin Dallas, Steve was also a proud Freemason, achieving Master Mason and receiving a 50-year service award.
He is survived by daughters Michelle Thompson (husband Bob) and Marilyn Morrow; grand- children Travis Thompson, Shelby Morrow, and Jackson Morrow: brothers Kenneth and Donald Vardell; and sister-in-law Kathleen Kay Vardell. He was preceded in death by grandson Rhys Thompson and sister-in-law Travis Rusheon Vardell.
