Aurelia “Ann” Vivero went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 1, 2023. Ann was born on December 28, 1936, to Santos and Guadalupe Lopez in Caldwell, Texas. She grew up on the family farm, the oldest daughter of eight siblings.
Later in Bryan, Texas she met the love of her life, Jesse Vivero. He always talked about how he saw her getting off a bus and pursued her, and that she had the best legs. They were married for 64 years, just celebrating their anniversary on December 13. They had a covenant marriage, as Jesse loved her through her Bipolar and Alzheimer diseases. Ever protective of her, he would not leave her side the last few weeks. His heart is broken.
They lived in Bryan, where Ann worked at Texas A&M Financial Aid Department, working hard, and becoming the Director, Financial Aid. She had a passion for helping underprivileged students realize their dream of going to college.
Ann pursued her own dream of a college education. While working full time at Texas A&M University and part-time at Kroger, she attended night school and graduated from Texas A&M University, all while raising their family. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 1983. Jesse and Ann raised their three children, Jesse, Teresa, and Carlos in Bryan. She retired from Texas A&M University after 35 years of service.
Jesse and Ann loved to go dancing, watching their kids’ sporting events, traveling across the country, and just being with family. They moved to Richardson, Texas when retired to be closer to their children and their grandchildren. They enjoyed watching their grandkids play soccer, attending as many games and events as they could.
Ann was a hard worker who loved her family, was very disciplined and always successful at anything she set her mind to. She was a good cook, and made wonderful carne guisada, tortillas, frijoles, and the best mexican rice. She passed on February 1, 2023, from Alzheimer. She did not always recognize her family the last year, but she knew she was loved. Through God’s grace she always knew her loving husband Jesse. He would sit by her bed for hours talking lovingly and softly to her while holding her hand.
Ann is survived by her loving and faithful husband Jesse, her children Jesse Vivero (son), Teresa Read (daughter) and husband Doug Read, Carlos Vivero (son) and wife Victoria Vivero; her grandchildren Christopher Vivero, Nicholas Vivero, Taylor Read, Zach Read, and Antonio Vivero; her great-grandson Xander Vivero (son of Christopher Vivero). She is survived by her siblings; Samuel Lopez, Augustin Lopez, Esther Ramirez, Guadalupe “Lupe” Lopez, and Aris Lopez. Ann was preceded in death by her parents Santos and Guadalupe Lopez, and siblings, Joel Lopez, and James Lopez.
Funeral services will be February 13, 2023, at 1pm at All Saints Catholic Church, Dallas Texas, where the family will praise Jesus for his grace, mercifully accepting Aurelia into His arms. Even to the end, God was with the family on the difficult journey of illness, showing up miraculously when the family needed Him the most. All Praise and Glory to Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer Association (ALZ) or the International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD) in memory of Aurelia Vivero.
