Barbara "Bobbie" Whaley Harris

Bobbie graduated from Jonesboro High School and went on to earn her master’s degree in teaching from West Georgia College. She devoted over 20 years of her life to educating children as a teacher with Plano Independent School District. Her dedication to teaching and the many students whose lives she touched were an important part of the legacy she leaves behind.

Those who knew Bobbie will remember her not only for what she accomplished, but for the unforgettable person she was. She was funny, feisty, dependable, and always fun to be around. She had a gift for making people laugh and a way of bringing energy and warmth wherever she went. No one who knew her could forget her unmistakable Southern belle accent—a distinctive part of Bobbie that made her voice instantly recognizable and uniquely her own.

Bobbie was a talented artist who especially loved watercolor painting. She also found great joy in gardening, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. Whether she was creating something beautiful with her paintbrush, tending to her garden, enjoying an adventure, or simply sharing time with the people she loved, Bobbie embraced life with enthusiasm and personality.

Her faith was also an important part of her life. Bobbie was actively involved in Grace Presbyterian Church in Plano, where she cherished her church family and faithfully shared her time and friendship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Elease Whaley, and her husband, Claude Harris.

Bobbie is survived by her daughters, Lea Harbour and Lynn Manning; her son-in-law, Merk Harbour; her grandsons, Luke Harbour and Max Harbour; her sister, Jackie Wilkinson; her brother-in-law, Don Wilkinson; her nephew, Luke Wilkinson; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church.

Bobbie’s life was filled with love, faith, laughter, friendship, creativity, and family. She leaves behind not only cherished memories, but a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her life was uniquely her own—and so was the unmistakable way she made people smile.
