Barbara Ann McCollum

Barbara Ann Bush McCollum, age 86, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, peacefully. Barbara Ann was born June 14, 1938, in Durant Oklahoma to Lowell “Tack” and Clyde Bush. She lived in Calera, Oklahoma, just south of Durant, during her childhood and graduated from Calera High School in 1956. Ann met the love of her life, Ray, at her best friend’s wedding. They married May 26, 1956, had three children, and shared 63 years of marriage before Ray’s passing.

Ann enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family, and she never met a stranger; so, she had an abundance of friends. Ann and Ray would often take their children on family vacations and road trips throughout the United States. She loved traveling to the mountains, camping with their camper group, listening to Texas blue-grass music, drinking coffee, reading, working crossword puzzles, the Christmas season, July 4th and everything patriotic, and most of all, spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.

Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She lived life to the fullest each and every day and will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

Barbara Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ray McCollum; son, Richard McCollum; father, Lowell “Tack” Bush; mother, Charlie “Clyde” Bush; and brothers Frank Bush and Ray Bush.

Ann is survived by her sister Donna Thompson; sister-in-law Sheila Rudolf; son Steven Ray McCollum; daughter Vickie Bargas and son-in-law David Bargas; grandson Christopher “Ryan” Bargas; granddaughter Loren Nicole Dominguez and husband Aaron Dominguez; and great grandsons Benjamin “Ben” Dominguez and Samuel “Sammy” Dominguez.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 1:00pm at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, Dallas.
