Born August 29, 1933, in Dallas, Texas to Berthold F.W. and Anna Stange Jablinski, who had both immigrated from Germany, he grew up speaking German at home and, as a teen and young adult, helped his parents in their laundromat in East Dallas whenever he could. As a child, he spent many days with his mom and dad at the Sons of Herman Hall and was involved in the Walther League at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dallas. He was in the ROTC at Woodrow Wilson High School as well as athletics, playing football. He graduated at 17 and took a train by himself to attend college in Indiana, at Valparaiso University. Bert received his degree in Business Administration/Finance there and met his wonderful wife, Lois Werner Jablinski -his sweetheart and the love of his life. Married on June 23, 1956, they enjoyed 67 blessed years together as husband and wife. Bert loved the Lord above all and demonstrated his faith caring for others daily and being a committed, involved member to each church congregation he was ever part of. Besides often serving as an officer of his church, he was always a favorite Sunday School teacher, offering insights and practical applications of faith.
Bert served in the Army during peace time, which took him and Lois honeymooning to Dugway, Utah, where he was recognized for his administrative skills and marksmanship. Honorably discharged in 1957, he found employment with U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh, PA, where he worked until returning to Dallas in 1965 to begin a career in Information Systems Management working for Atlantic Richfield, later known as ARCO. In 1979, he was transferred to another position within ARCO, landing Bert and Lois in California. After accepting early retirement from ARCO, Bert took a position as office manager at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, CA. Taking full retirement in 1995, he and Lois returned to Texas.
Bert was truly blessed with the gift of music – a gift he shared in many ways throughout his life. Often, Lois would accompany him on the piano as he sang. They were quite a duo! His singing ‘career’ included stints as a member of the Dallas Civic Opera chorus, William Hall Choral, Dallas Symphony Chorus, and Plano Civic Chorus, not to mention his constant contributions to church music ministries throughout his life. For Bert and Lois, using their special musical talents gave genuine joy to their hearts and, more importantly, to the hearts of those receiving the gifts they offered, as they demonstrated through their music their steadfast, unwavering faith in God.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois, Bert is survived by his three sons, Gary Jablinski and his wife Hattie, Richard Jablinski, and David Jablinski and his wife Sue, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and many, many dearly loved friends.
Burial services will be private with a memorial service to be held February 1, 2025, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas.
Memorials may be made to Lutheran World Relief or Resurrection Lutheran Church of Plano.
