Beverly Camp Black, affectionately known as “Bev,” passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the Plaza at Edgemere in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with dementia. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Beverly will be remembered for her grace, generosity, and radiant spirit that brightened e very room she entered.
Born on October 4, 1939, Dallas, Texas, Beverly was the daughter of William Stanford and Pauline Camp and sister to Billy Camp, all now deceased. After graduating high school in Dallas, Beverly began a remarkable career as a model, joining the Kim Dawson Agency, where she helped spotlight the latest vehicles each year at the State Fair of Texas car show. She also found success as a shoe model, which prompted her love of shoes, especially high heels. Later, she built a successful career as a sales executive with Design-Pak, a prominent jewelry packaging distributor.
During her marriage to John R. Black, III, Beverly traveled extensively – exploring Europe, the Far East, and many destinations across the United States – collecting memories and experiences that enriched her life and those around her. Her love of travel inspired a passion for collecting art and antiques, which were proudly displayed in their elegantly appointed homes.
Known for her impeccable sense of style and her deep affection for animals, Beverly surrounded herself with beloved pets – dogs, cats, and even a cockatoo – that she treated as cherished members of the family.
Beverly is survived by her devoted daughter, Jill Black Reed, and her husband, Douglass Reed, of Plano, Texas; her grandson Douglass Reed, Jr., and his wife Whitney West Reed, of Dallas, Texas; and by her six great grandchildren – Sophie, Sydney, Douglass, III, Peyton, Mason and Wade, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. Beverly is predeceased by her granddaughter, Natalie Reed Brown.
Beverly’s family would like to extend their deepest and most heart-felt gratitude to her wonderful direct care team at Edgemere for the love and compassion they provided throughout her entire Edgemere residency. She was always provided with the highest level of care and dignity.
A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, in the Hasley Chapel at St. Andrew Methodist Church, 5801 W. Plano Parkway, Plano TX.
Beverly’s light and love will continue to shine in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
