Brittney Rose Serpa

March 3, 1994April 5, 2012

Brittney Serpa, born March 3, 1994 in Bedford Texas To Roy and Tori Serpa….the younger sister of Blake. Early family memories showcased her love of following her brother’s lead. When he dressed up for Halloween as Troy Aikman, she dressed up as a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. She spent much of her days trying to be just like her brother Blake. She loved and adored her brother more than anything and tried to emulate him in just about everything she did. Brittney has always been a friend to all. She was the child who defended the child who was being bullied or the child that no one wanted to play with. She always sat at lunch with the child that no one wanted to eat with. Brittney always took these children under her wing. Brittney was such a spirited young lady. She was filled with so much passion and so many dreams. She was always dreaming about her life and what her life would be like. She set the bar so high for herself. Brittney attended Prince of Peace Christian school for elementary school. She then attended Middle school at Prestonwood Christian Academy. As typical of Brittney, she then followed her brother to John Paul II Catholic High School.During these years Brittney followed her love of cheerleading & gymnastics. She really became passionate for running, track, working out and keeping fit, cross country and soccer. She planned to graduate one year early from high school on May 24 from Spring Creek Academy and join her brother at Ole Miss in the fall. Britt was very excited about going through sorority rush and involvement in Ole Miss College life especially Football games and being with friends at The Grove.Instead she graduated to heaven at the age of 18. Brittney’s energetic love of life lit up any room she entered. She usually entered singing Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” at the tip of her lungs. She fully embraced life loving friends and family more than anything in the world. A list of Brit’s favorite things must include Northpark Mall, Lake Cypress and the lake house and Ole Miss, family vacations like Monaco and Italy and anywhere her friends were. Her favorite past times were visiting her brother in Oxford, enjoying time with Mom and being Daddy’s little girl. Brittney’s special spirit will be sorely missed as she left her earthly life much too early.

Britt was the first girl to introduce herself on my first day at Bromley Brook. At the time, we were both 14 and were two of the youngest girls at BBS. During the months that we spent together, I had the privilege of not only getting to know Britt, but also forming an amazing friendship with her. I will always remember her adorable laugh and her beautiful smile. And I will never forget the times when she would belt out Whitney Houston on a day-to-day basis. I have never met someone with a heart as big as Britt's and I doubt I ever will.

Britt, I think about you almost everyday. You always kept everyone smiling and in good spirits even on the worst days, and for that we all thank you. I feel so blessed to have known such a beautiful girl and to know that you are watching over us all. I love and miss you mucho Serp. Rest easy mama.

Brittney and I were roommates at Bromley Brook School. She was such a remarkable girl I looked at her like she was my younger sister. I've never met anyone like Brittney who can light up a room when she smiles. Brittney means so much to me and a huge part of my heart has been stolen. We've had so many laughs and I will forever keep those memories close to my heart. I saw her last year when I went to Dallas and she was still the same girl I met back in 2008 and I am so thankful I was blessed with the oppertunity to see her beautiful again once more. She remains in my thoughts constantly and I give my heart to her family. I always loved when she would randomly belt out "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston. I would make her sing it for me over and over again, I just couldn't get enough. The missing part in heart I would like to believe is her taking that from me so she could have a peice of me with her. I will miss her immensly as I have since the day she left Bromley. I had a dream about her the other week and it was so vivid I wanted to wake up and believed we were walking in some city somewhere catching up on everything. I love you so much Brittney you will forever be a part of me and I will always look at you as one of the most beautiful, wholesome, heartwarming woman I will ever know. Say hi to my mom for me I've prayed and asked her to find you and be there for you. Once again I love you Brittney Rose Serpa. Rest in peace angel.

Britt, It's Dad. It has been so very tough without you. I think about you many times during the day. I know you are talking to me and I feel your presence constantly. Mom, Blake and I miss you dearly. We talk about you and the good memories often. We have the answers of why and so wish we could have helped you at the exact right time with your illness. We were trying but didn't know or understand the depth of your feelings. We love you more than you will ever know. You are in a better place with God and we are so proud to say your are our unbelieveable daughter ! It goes without saying, as you would sing to us all the time Whitney Houston's song "I will always love you" Also, I re-read the most touching birthday card you gave me on March 3, 2012 and I have the Mavericks T-shirt in my closet that said No. 1 Dad you gave me the Monday before your passing. We love you ! Your Loving Dad

I was a roommate to Brittany for a short time but she left a lasting impression on me as one of the kindest souls I will ever meet. Brittany was a beautiful girl who always had something whimsical about her. She was always kind even when others were not. I had to sit and cry for a bit for a bit when I learned of Brittany's passing. Life is so fragile and precious. Maybe I should take mine for granted less. My best wishes go out to her family.
