Carleton Clifton “Cliff” Page, DBA (1932-2018)

Monday April 23, 2018 at 3:15 AM our beloved Cliff quietly passed away and returned to his heavenly home. Cliff’s deep spirituality was based on his profound and steadfast love and respect of God our Heavenly Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and Our Blessed Mother.

Cliff was born July 20, 1932 in McComb, MS. He attended Enterprise Elementary, through the 4th grade. The summer prior to entering the 5th grade, the Page family moved to New Orleans where he attended McDonogh #10. Larry Nichols, a childhood neighbor, encouraged Cliff to enroll in Jesuit High School; there he graduated with the class of 1951. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country aboard the US Guavina submarine, affectionately known as the Pregnant Porpoise. Following his Navy tour of duty, he attended Ole Miss and obtained his BS and MBA. He continued on to Indiana University to earn his DBA (Doctorate of Business Administration). After moving to Baton Rouge, he became Director of the LA State Teacher’s Retirement System, until retirement in 1989. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus and he faithfully dedicated his time helping arrange funeral services for the bereaved. Shortly before retiring Cliff became a volunteer chaplain at the Louisiana State Prison in Angola. For 15 years he led bible study classes, brought Holy Communion to the prisoners including those on death row. This ministry was so important to Cliff that he invited his brother-in-law Carlis Joseph “CJ” Glynn to join him.

October 1, 1994, Cliff married Myrtle Glynn Daigle. In 2003 they relocated to Plano, TX to be closer to their children and grandchildren. There, they embraced the Prince of Peace Catholic Church community. He enjoyed fishing, especially deep-sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, hunting, traveling, frying his famous turkeys, but his most treasured events were those that included his family and daily conversations with his loving sister Kay.

Easter 2018, Cliff’s brother-in-law Donald Glynn, graciously drove Cliff and Myrtle: to Baton Rouge and McComb which gave him an opportunity to visit his family and friends one last time; Cliff was so thankful for this kind gesture.

Preceded in death by his beloved parents Ruth Aline Quin and Gordon Ashton Page, first wife Dorothy “Dot” Kaleta, RN., older brother Malcolm Lee Page, in-laws: June Bishop Page, John Daniel “JD” Mese, DDS., Clyde Glynn, Imogene “Jean” Glynn, Bobby Jones, Jean Stephens Glynn, Buddy Rousseau, and Mary Glynn.
