Carol Ann Dux, “Nana” or “Momma Dux,” passed away December 30th, 2025 in Richardson Texas at the age of 85, surrounded by her family. Carol leaves behind a legacy of strength, beauty, love, friendship, and everlasting resilience.
She was born January 17th, 1940 in Portland, Maine to Lois Reardon. Raised by Lois and her father, Jim Reardon, Carol grew up in Wisconsin with her sister Nancy Trott. Carol would go on to become a highly accomplished nurse, working over the span of 54 years. For more than 47 years,Carol shared a beautiful marriage with her beloved husband Kenneth. Their life together was built on laughter, commitment, and an enduring love and partnership that set an example for their 4 children.
Carol was a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for 24 years at Richardson Medical Center with extensive experience in psychiatric nursing and as an ICU nurse. Later on, Carol’s mother in law, Helen, moved in with the family, helping Carol and Ken with cooking, baking and household tasks. During this time, in 1984, Carol went back to school to obtain her RN. In 1986, Carol Graduated from Brookhaven Community College with an Associates Degree as a Registered Nurse. Carol was a Registered Nurse (RN) for 30 years, working at Heritage Village Skilled Nursing Facility, hospice at Vitas Hospice and Horizon Hospice, Vista Care, and Medical Center of Mesquite. During her nursing career, Carol retired several times to spend time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Three of her retirements were short lived. She would always say, “Once a nurse always a nurse,” and thus she would return back to her life’s mission and passion to help others. She returned to UT Southwestern Medical Center as an RN Case Manager in 2008, before retiring more officially in 2014. Nevertheless, she could never be idle and took up parttime and volunteer positions to continue serving others for many more years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth James Dux, her parents Jim and Lois Reardon, her mother and father-in-law Helen and Stephen Dux, her loving sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Mark Trott, along with many lifelong friends– who greet her in heaven.
As impressive as her career was, Carol’s real legacy lies within her love of people. She loved spending time with family and friends, whether it’s outside sunning herself with her beloved dog Kaleigh at her side, eating out at her favorite restaurants, seeing new movies, telling everyone about her adored Turkish shows, playing cards for hours with her daughters, attending monthly bridge parties with her life long friends, or going on a family vacation. She loved to sing and would let everyone know how she sang on the radio as a child. No matter what she did, she always wanted to be with her loved ones. Always outgoing and social, everyone found themselves being her friend. Through her strong faith, laughter, kindness, and innate ability to bring joy to those around her, she left everyone she met with a lasting impression.
She is survived by her children, daughter Tammy Dux Jackson and wife Patti, daughter Tracy Dux and wife Mary, daughter Kimberly (Gogi) Fowler and husband Chuck, and son Stephen Dux. In addition to her grandchildren, Drew, Sydney, and Aiden Fowler, Tabitha Dux, Eddie, Isaac, and Grace Jackson, and Dalton Ferguson, along with her great grandchildren, Aaliyah and Dexter Ferguson, and many friends who consider her family as well.
