Carol Josephine Buckner Pressly "Jo, Josie, Mama Jo" ...
Lived most of her long, adventurous and caring life doing what she loved as one of the Top Real Estate agents/brokers in Dallas for 30 plus years. Most recently with Virginia Cook.
Mom/Jo taught me to love life and of course LOVE the beach. We probably made a dozen trips to South Padre in the 80's and later discovered the beautiful sugar beaches of Destin, Florida. Back when there were no traffic jams on HWY 98! According to Jo, Destin was "Divine!"
Jo was part of the Hillcrest Class of 55. I do remember DJ 'in many of her class reunions and I guess that somehow gave me the music/radio passion. Never a boring party! She also attended SMU in Dallas.
Along with the beach, Jo loved reading and reading (books that would take me a month) and read several books a week. Jo and Paul were incredible cooks and loved being in the kitchen. She also had many cats over the years, some lived better than family 😊 and Jo enjoyed a wide range of music from early Jazz to Pat Matheny to The Rolling Stones and ZZ Top. She even gave Keith Richards a "Hi Five" at a Stones concert in Memphis. Seriously!
Preceded in death by her daughter Laura Christine Pressly "Christy" - who we miss dearly. Her Father and Mother George and Christine Buckner, her granddaughter Laura Elizabeth Pressly (Madie's sis) and my father Robert "Bob" Neil Pressly.
Survived by one son, Curry William "Bill" Pressly; Daughter in law, Chrystle Payne Pressly; brother, George "Buckethead" Buckner; granddaughter, Madelynne Grace Pressly; along with James Ozzy Allen and Jirzey Shay Allen. And we can't forget the dog that loved to visit, Pricilla Pressly. Many relatives throughout Texas including Cheray and Fred Bressler, Joe Will and Pam Maxwell, Dan and Janis Daniels, Gigi and Harry Benson and Max Gathings.
Her partner in crime for the last twenty years has been Paul Pless Hamby of Dallas. They don't make them like Paul anymore. A true gentlemen. Paul has been like another father to me.
Visitation is Monday September 17th, 10:00am-Noon at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home - 7990 George Bush Turnpike. Dallas, Texas 75252. (Coit and George Bush Turnpike)
We love you Mama Jo.
