Cecil Lavern Hale, age 82, of Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. He was born on August 24, 1943, in Bone Cave, TN to Inez and Cecil Larimore Hale. He moved to Carrollton, Texas in 1948 with his mom, dad, sisters; Hassie, Bettye Sue and brother, Bobby Hale.
Early on he went by Lavern but decided it would be best to go by Cecil, after he was put in the women’s dorm at the University of North Texas, although he really didn’t mind that.
Cecil proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years and was a member Army rifle team. He was a savvy businessman, working in the semi-conductor sector for Texas Instruments for over 20 years and then 30 plus years at his own company, CEC Technical Sales. He was an intelligent, hardworking man with a generous heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a deep love for his family and friends. Cecil never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. You never knew if the story was factual or a joke until the very end.
Cecil had many interests and hobbies. He loved the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing at his ranch in Jacksboro. He enjoyed reading with his favorite author being Louis Lamour. He loved shooting pool and played soccer well into his 60’s. Above all else, Cecil treasured the time he spent with those he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Hale of Dallas, TX; his children Clayton (Jenny) Hale, Sherri (Tor) Hanyo and Terri Hale of Plano, TX., his sister, Bettye Sue Bell of Waco, TX, sister-in-law Anita Hale and his cherished grandchildren; Hunter Hale, Tor Hanyo IV, Ashleigh Hanyo, and Autumn Hanyo of Plano, TX. Cecil is preceded in death by his parents: Cecil & Inez Hale, sister: Hassie Waits and brother: Bobby Hale.
Cecil will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend whose kindness, generosity and laughter touched the lives of many. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service celebrating Cecil’s life will be held on June 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor his memory,
