Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Korea and at Chaumont Air Force Base in France. His time in the service instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline, dedication, and integrity — qualities that shaped every part of his life.
After returning home, Charles built a remarkable career in insurance sales and management, dedicating over 50 years to helping others protect what mattered most to them. His hard work and leadership earned him a place in the Allstate Financial Hall of Fame and the honor of receiving the Allstate Texas Legends Award — achievements that reflected both his excellence and his genuine care for others.
Charles loved to travel, and some of his proudest moments came from the many trips he earned through his success with Allstate. He and his wife, Carole, cherished the opportunity to see new places and share those experiences together, creating countless lasting memories along the way.
A lifelong sports fan, Charles was passionate about the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners, rarely missing a game and always cheering with enthusiasm. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandson play baseball — he was his biggest fan and loved every moment spent supporting him from the stands.
He was known for his kindness, loyalty, and warm sense of humor — a man who never met a stranger and who found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carole Smith, his children Charles Lary Bender Jr. and his wife Lynn Bender, and Desiree N. Bender, along with his cherished grandson, Charles Lary Bender III. His love for his family was constant and deep, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
