

Went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 1, 2014. He was born on September 22, 1924 to John and Jeanette Cox in Dallas, Texas. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 67 years “Fluter” Cox; son, Lee Cox and wife Jill Gardner; daughter, Cathy Curry and husband, Tom; grandsons, Kyle Curry, Colin Curry and wife Brenna; granddaughter, Sarah Gardner-Cox and husband Russell Nelson; and great grandson Andrew Nelson. He is preceded by his parents, and brother, John C. Cox Jr. Charles began his career with Southwestern Life Insurance Company and then moved to Southland Life before becoming executive vice president and manager of Plano Savings and Loan until he retired in 1989. Charles was born and raised in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas until his move to Plano in 1963. He graduated from Sunset High School and received his Bachelors from SMU. Charles met the love of his life “Fluter” at Brooklyn Avenue Methodist Church where they were married. He was a member of the Plano Rotary Club, SREA, avid bridge player, and enjoyed gardening and golf. Charles was a lifelong Methodist active in several Plano churches, teaching Sunday school for over 60 years. Above all else he loved his family and grandchildren. Charles never met a stranger and had many lifelong friends. Visitation for Charles will be on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Ted Dickey West from 6-8 pm. Memorial Services for Charles will be on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Custer Road United Methodist Church 6601 Custer Rd, Plano, Texas 75023. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Charles to The Clara Gibson Prayer Conference in care of Custer Road United Methodist Church.
