Chris Howard Moore

Chris Howard Moore, age 63, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on June 20, 2025.

Chris was born on October 16, 1961, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Carl and Sara Moore. After graduating from Arlington High School, he began his career in the automotive business, during which time he met and married his dear wife of 34 years, Shawne.

In 2002, Chris began a 23-year career with Benchmark Mortgage, serving as the branch manager of the company’s second-oldest branch. It was there that he discovered his true calling: serving veterans. Chris believed that every veteran deserved the opportunity to own a home, and he worked tirelessly to make that dream a reality for hundreds of families—building many lifelong friendships along the way.

Chris was a man of many hobbies and passions. He enjoyed rounds of golf and drinks at the 19th hole, fishing and hunting trips, dinners and game nights with his children, afternoon naps on his couch, Mexican food with Shawne and his best friends, and walks with his beloved golden retrievers, Dexter and Buddy. He was known for his hearty sense of humor—especially by those lucky enough to call him Uncle Chris, G-Pa, or Dad.

Chris is survived by his wife, Shawne; his children, Nathan, Brandon, Ashley (and her husband, Daniel), and Cadey; and his grandchildren, Madison and Marlee. He is also survived by his brother, Ray; his sister-in-law, Pat Jones (and her husband, Max); his brother-in-law, Tony Terry (and his wife, Kellee); and many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and close friends who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, Texas. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chris’s honor to the Valor Mission Project (VMP).
