

Clinton passed away in the arms of Juanell, his wife of 58 years, as she smothered him with hugs and kisses on January 17, 2025. At 81, he peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on February 13, 1943, in San Antonio, TX. Clinton grew up with three sisters, Gwen Marks, Kay Johnston, and Janice Young, in numerous locations nationwide and three years in Japan. His dad was Clinton R. Marks, Sr, retired Air Force, and his mother was Mildred Long Mark Both are deceased.
He is survived by his wife Juanell Savage Marks, daughter Karyn Melea Warr (husband Donald Marvin Warr), siblings Gwendolyn Faye Marks, Janice Lee Young (husband Louis Clay Young) Kay Ellen Johnston (husband William Jerry Johnston), brothers-in-law Stanley Savage (wife Barbara) and Lloyd Savage, and many nieces and nephews.
Clinton graduated from Bossier City High School in Bossier City, Louisiana (1961 He was an Honor Society member and played on the tennis team. He graduated from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, Louisiana (1965), as the number one ranking cadet with honors and a Black Knight drill team member.
He met his college sweetheart, the love of his life, Juanell Savage, on December 20, 1966, during his tour of duty in Korea. They married in San Antonio. He was a devoted husband and father; he loved traveling with his wife and loved his family. He traveled to France, Scotland, England, Canada, the Cayman Islands, Hawaii, Brazil, Belgium, Mexico, and most of the United States. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching football, and baseball. A born-again Christian he most of all loved singing in church. Since 1991 a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano, TX, where he sang in the choir for over 25 years. A 15-year member of The Vocal Majority Chorus of the Barbershop Harmony Society, winning 4 international gold medals and 1 silver. He won the Jim Clancy Award, Robert Louis Arnold Service Award and served on the board for 6 years, and many Barber-shopper of the Month awards.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968 attaining the rank of Captain. He earned the Expert Infantry Badge, his Airborne Wings, and numerous medals. After the Army, he was a computer programmer, auditor, and Information Security Manager at Gulf Oil Corporation, Mtech, and Electronic Data Systems, retiring in 2009. In retirement, he worked as a part-time driver for Enterprise Rent-a-Car, a job he dearly enjoyed, and made friends wherever he went.
A visitation for Clinton will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush, Dallas, TX 75252. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Prestonwood Baptist Church - Plano Campus, 6801 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093. A committal service will occur Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 9:15 AM to 9:30 AM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
